Randy Mosher is a talented man. He is a graphic designer, talented homebrewer and quite a talented beer writer as well. Put those all together and you have the makings for quite an enjoyable book dedicated to teaching you/me, the beer drinker, just how to enjoy that tasty beverage we have in our hands. He also tells us more than any of us will ever remember about history, style and everything else you'd ever want to know about "the world's greatest drink". Personally, this has to be one of the best investments I've made when it comes to books about beer. Randy does a great job of simultaneously breaking down this book into easily digested sections that have plenty of pictures and diagrams to keep even the shortest attention span fixated. There are sections on glassware, becoming a beer judge, beer styles, different graphs and charts (and wheels), malts, hops, Breweriana, a glossary of beer lingo and quite a few others that I've really enjoyed reading through. I've sort of used this as a coffee table book that I pick up while drinking a beer but I bet I could sit down and read this cover to cover with no problem either. A few of the things I've learned from this book are:
This is an absolutely great book about not only "tasting" beer but knowing beer and its history and how we got to where we are today. Definitely worth the investment. Cheers Randy!
